While doing a course on character design at Escape Studios (Pearson College London) I designed a character pack for the character of Cleopatra, for a hypothetical animated movie based on Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. With the design I tried to stay true to the essence of Cleopatra’s character in Shakepeare’s play (passionate, free-flowing, dramatic, feminine). For the art style I took inspiration from famous Franco-Belgian comics, such as ‘Valerian et Laureline’ and ‘Spirou et Fantasio’.
